Coyote 300 La Paz - 19.-20. June 2010

Baja California Sur is well known for its off road races and the Coyote 300 is one of them, with start and finish in the outskirts of La Paz. Off Road Racing in La Paz or better yet, Baja Sur is one of its most popular activities. La Paz is also dubbed the “world capital of off-road racing”!! Way beyond the famous Baja 1000 or Dos Mares 500 races which draw countless spectators from up north, smaller desert racing and closed course racing events are held all year around.

Under regular circumstances – we all know the economic situation worldwide that has also influence on the motorsport at international and national levels – entries of 150+ vehicles at the 2 and 4 wheel classes are common. This events are in no way “second class”, could at any time be compared to races in similar dimensions up north, are excellent organized in terms of logistic, safety, communications and security and often attract desert racers from the USA and Canada to participate. This year running of the Coyote 300 is the 15th anniversary of this race. The Coyote 300, which welcomed 190 participants last year has so far (at meeting at 9th of june 2009) 43 entries but one can expect this number will change until the race weekend.

The race starts on the 21st June, at 7:30a.m. for the motorcycles and at 9:00a.m. for cars & trucks in El Centenario following a route to the the Pacific towards Todos Santos. Before going up the mountains to San Antonio, Los Planes and then up towards La Paz via Los Divisaderos before coming to the spectacular finish line at the El Tecolote Beach.

In conjunction with fathers day weekend, the crowd at this very popular beach about 20km outside of La Paz will be pleased with spectaculars views at the Isla Espiritu Santos and some of the best food Baja Sur has to offer. Events like a bikini contest, live bands – a big fiesta, are welcomed entertainment crowned by a hopeful thrilling race to the checkered flag.
